LandlordCosts.co.uk is written and edited by Alex Izquierdo. This page sets out the rules we follow so you can judge how far to trust what you read.
Independence
No insurer, software company, letting agent or comparison site owns or pays for our guides. We do not take payment to include or exclude a product. If we ever earn commission from a link, we will say so on the page concerned.
What we write about
We cover the costs of letting property in England and the rules that create them: safety certificates, licensing, insurance, tax and software. We do not give personal legal, tax or financial advice.
Sources and accuracy
- For regulation and tax we start from official sources (GOV.UK, HMRC, HSE, legislation.gov.uk) and link to them.
- Every cost figure names its source and the date we checked it. We say when a figure is a single example, a vendor price or an estimate.
- Where official guidance does not yet cover a detail, we say so and name any secondary source we use.

Who writes the guides
The author is not a solicitor, accountant or insurance broker. Guides are researched from published sources and are not based on personal experience we do not have.
Updates and corrections
Every page shows when it was last updated and when it is next due for review. If you spot a mistake, tell us and we aim to check it within five working days. Significant corrections are noted on the page.
Advertising
The site is funded by display advertising. Ads are clearly separate from our content and never change what we write.
